The Boys & Girls Club of Grant County offers fun and engaging programs for youth of all ages, building a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence. Our programs develop skills and confidence, putting youth on a pathway to success. Passport to Manhood

Passport to Manhood encourages school age boys to adopt and embrace the character virtues that give them a positive head start on their journey to manhood. This program supports the development of a positive self-identity; educational, employment, social, emotional and cultural competencies; commitment to community; health and well-being and a strong moral compass.

 

Smart Girls Brilliant Women

Giving girls confidence

The SMART Girls program helps school age girls develop and adopt a healthy attitude and lifestyle, sustain a positive self-concept, sound decision-making skills and mentor relationships. The program focuses on health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement. SMART Girls offers the tools to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible women. 

 

Power Hour

Making minutes count.

Power Hour helps Club members achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encouraging member to become self-directed learners. Dedicated youth development professionals and volunteers help Club members complete their homework assignments for the day. When they finish their work, they participate in a variety of other engaging and educational activities to develop their skills even further. Power Hour is a great opportunity for kids and teens to get their homework completed in a quiet place with support from trained, caring staff.

 

Triple Play

A game plan for mind, body and soul.

Triple Play is a dynamic wellness program that is designed to help youth create opportunities to take charge of their personal health and fitness. This program promotes the importance of physical activity along with proper nutrition through the programs three components: mind, body and soul.

Mind: Addresses the ways an individual’s health behaviors are influenced by personal beliefs and exposure to positive modeling.

Body: Intentional focus on physical literacy: ability, confidence and motivation.

Soul: Emphasis on social and emotional development: emotional regulation, healthy relationships and responsible decision-making.

 

Smart Emotions

Helping youth develop the social-emotional skills of self-regulation, impulse control and stress management.

Youth explore their own emotions and those of their peers. They build skills for recognizing when and why they feel different emotions and are able to develop a self-care plan to support their own emotional self-regulation. Interactive sessions reinforce character and leadership skills as the youth work together to resolve conflict and peer pressure situations building self-esteem and positive behavior.

 

Street Smart Program

building “street-smart” knowledge, confidence, and skills our youth need to make intelligent and informed choices.

Our Street Smart program is designed for youth 11 to 13 years. This program addresses everyday issues young people face and helps youth resist gang involvement and violence, learn conflict management strategies and appreciate diversity.

Street SMART has three foundational goals:

  • Reduce the frequency of thoughtless and mean behaviors among peers

  • Foster personal and social strengths to help youth cope with conflicts

  • Build positive connectedness and relationships as a web of support

 

Kid Smart Program

Preparing club kids for the new world of challenges and opportunities that comes with adolescence.

SMART Kids is a creative, fun learning experience that provides our younger club members with the knowledge and skills they need to grow into confident, healthy teenagers. It is an effective and unique way for ages 6 to 9 to prepare to meet new challenges. The primary goal of SMART Kids is to provide children with the knowledge, skills and self-esteem to help them avoid risky behaviors and situations, including involvement with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

 

Healthy Habits

Incorporating healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club Experience.

Healthy Habits emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being. The program, for ages 6 to 15, addresses the ways an individual’s health behaviors are influenced by personal beliefs and exposure to positive modeling. In addition to nutrition education, activities focus on helping youth assess, practice, identify, consider, and recognize health behaviors and messages.
